Terms of Use

These Terms explain the conditions for using My Context (the “Service”). By using the Service, you agree to these Terms.

Language notice: This English version is provided as a translation for convenience. The Japanese version is the official version and prevails if there is any discrepancy.

Article 1 — Application

These Terms apply to all relationships concerning use of the Service provided by the operator of My Context (the “Operator”).

Article 2 — Registration

  1. Some features require registration by email authentication (magic link) or by signing in with a Google account.
  2. The Operator may decline registration if an applicant provides false information, has previously had a registration revoked for violating these Terms, or is otherwise considered unsuitable by the Operator.

Article 3 — Account Management

You are responsible for managing your sign-in information appropriately. The Operator is not responsible for unauthorized use by a third party.

Article 4 — Prohibited Activities

When using the Service, you must not:

Article 5 — AI Features and Important Disclaimers

  1. The Service uses generative AI, including Anthropic’s Claude and Google’s Gemini API. AI output can vary by input and timing and may contain errors or inaccurate information.
  2. AI output from the Service is not medical, legal, tax, investment, or other professional advice. Consult a qualified professional before making decisions about health, finances, legal matters, or other high-impact issues.
  3. The Service is not a medical device and is not intended to diagnose or treat mental health conditions. If you feel severe anxiety, depression, or thoughts of self-harm, contact local emergency services, a qualified medical provider, or a crisis support service. You can find verified support by country at Find A Helpline.
  4. You use AI output at your own judgment and responsibility. The Operator is not responsible for decisions, actions, or outcomes based on AI output.

Article 6 — Ownership of User Content

  1. You retain copyright in conversations, journals, notes, and other content you enter into the Service (“User Content”). The Operator does not provide User Content to anyone other than you or reuse it for the Operator’s service improvement, sales, or advertising.
  2. The Operator uses User Content only as needed to provide the Service, including storage, display, transmission to AI services, and synchronization.

Article 7 — Fees, Subscriptions, and Free Trial

  1. The basic features for reading, writing, and exporting your content as Markdown are free. AI features—including AI conversations, question generation, automatic context organization, analysis across past entries, and early access to new features—require the auto-renewing Premium subscription.
  2. In the Japanese storefront, the reference price for Premium is JPY 1,000 per month (tax included) or JPY 10,000 per year (tax included). In other countries and regions, the local-currency price displayed by the applicable store applies. In every case, the price and currency shown on the store purchase confirmation screen at the time of purchase are the official price.
  3. First-time users receive a seven-day free trial, limited to one per person, with access to all features including AI. The trial itself is free and does not automatically start a paid subscription unless you separately complete a subscription purchase.
  4. Subscriptions renew automatically. On iOS, charges are billed to your Apple Account through Apple In-App Purchase; on Android, charges are billed to your Google account through Google Play Billing. Your subscription renews at the selected plan price unless you turn off auto-renewal at least 24 hours before the current period ends. If you subscribe using a store-provided free trial, billing begins when that trial ends.
  5. You may cancel at any time. On iOS, go to Settings → Apple Account → Subscriptions. On Android, go to Google Play → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions. Deleting the app or your My Context account does not cancel a store subscription. After cancellation, Premium remains available until the end of the paid period. Partial-period refunds follow the applicable store’s rules.
  6. If prices change, the Operator will notify you and obtain any required consent using the method required by the applicable store.
  7. To protect the system and prevent abuse, the Operator may apply usage limits to AI features at levels not normally reached through ordinary use.
  8. If the Operator determines that a person has improperly attempted to use the free trial more than once—for example, through multiple accounts or repeated registrations from the same device—the Operator may cancel the trial, suspend the account, or restrict use without prior notice.
  9. To prevent free-trial abuse, the Operator collects, stores, and compares the minimum necessary information, such as a device-specific identifier and the source IP address recorded when an account is created. See the Privacy Policy for details.
  10. If a restriction is applied by mistake—for example, because family members share Wi-Fi, you changed devices, or reset your device—contact Support. The Operator will review and promptly remove an incorrect restriction.

Article 8 — Changes, Suspension, or Termination

The Operator may change, suspend, or terminate all or part of the Service without prior notice. The Operator is not responsible for resulting loss suffered by a user or third party.

Article 9 — Disclaimer of Warranties and Limitation of Liability

  1. The Operator makes no express or implied warranty that the Service is free from factual or legal defects, including defects relating to safety, reliability, accuracy, completeness, effectiveness, fitness for a particular purpose, security, errors, bugs, or infringement of rights.
  2. The Operator is not responsible for any loss arising from the Service. However, this limitation does not apply where the agreement between the Operator and a user constitutes a consumer contract under Japan’s Consumer Contract Act.
  3. Where the exception in the preceding paragraph applies, the Operator is not liable for special damages arising from the Operator’s breach or tort due to negligence other than gross negligence, including where the Operator or user foresaw or could have foreseen the possibility of those damages.
  4. Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits mandatory consumer rights or other rights that cannot lawfully be excluded under the laws that apply where you live.

Article 10 — Privacy

The Operator respects your privacy. Personal information and usage information are handled according to the Privacy Policy.

Article 11 — Account Deletion

You may delete your account at any time. See Account Deletion for instructions. Deleting your account also deletes stored User Content, which cannot be restored. Account deletion does not cancel a subscription managed by Apple or Google. Cancel it in the applicable store before deleting your account.

Article 12 — Changes to These Terms

The Operator may change these Terms when necessary. Material changes will be announced in the Service or on the website. Updated Terms take effect when posted on this site.

Article 13 — Governing Law and Jurisdiction

  1. These Terms are governed by the laws of Japan.
  2. Any dispute relating to the Service is subject to the exclusive agreed jurisdiction of the court having jurisdiction over the Operator’s location, except where mandatory law gives you the right to bring a claim in another court or forum.

Article 14 — Contact

Article 15 — Language

This English translation is provided for convenience. The Japanese version of these Terms is the official and controlling version. If the English and Japanese versions differ, the Japanese version prevails.
