This page explains, in plain language, how My Context (the “App”) handles your data.
Language notice: This English version is provided as a translation for convenience. The Japanese version is the official version and prevails if there is any discrepancy.
We store conversations, journals, Your Context documents, imported notes, the email address used to sign in, usage and settings data, and the device identifier and sign-up IP address needed to prevent free-trial abuse. This data is linked to your account.
Data is stored on your device (inside the browser) and, when you are signed in, in a cloud database provided by Supabase so it can synchronize across your devices.
Cloud data is protected using row-level security, which prevents other users from viewing your data.
The text you write may be sent to and processed by AI services—Anthropic’s Claude or Google’s Gemini API—to organize writing, generate questions, build context, and provide other AI features. The App selects the service appropriate to the feature and processing task.
Submitted content is used to provide the App’s features and maintain safety. The Operator does not provide your text to third parties for advertising or AI model training. The Gemini API is operated as a paid API service with Google Cloud Billing enabled, under terms that do not permit use of the submitted content for Google product improvement.
No text is sent to AI until you have given explicit consent in the App. You can withdraw consent at any time in Settings. AI features are unavailable while consent is off.
These providers handle data only within the purposes described above.
To improve the App, we record usage information that does not contain your writing through PostHog on EU servers. This includes event names, such as which feature was used, and numerical information such as AI token count and processing time.
Conversation, journal, and context text and your email address are not sent to PostHog. The user identifier is replaced with a SHA-256 hashed identifier. It does not directly contain your name or email address, but it is used to group events from the same user while the account exists. We therefore treat it as pseudonymous, not anonymous, data. We do not use cookies or session recording.
You can stop analytics at any time by opening Menu → Settings & Support → Privacy and turning off “Usage analytics” at the top. If you want past analytics events deleted, contact us before deleting your account so we can verify the applicable identifier.
To maintain a one-time free trial for each person, the Operator collects, stores, and compares the minimum necessary information for the stated purpose, in accordance with applicable disclosure requirements under Japanese law:
This information is used only to check whether multiple accounts are being created from the same device or source within a short period. It is not used for advertising, third-party disclosure, or behavioral tracking.
If a restriction is applied by mistake—for example, because family members share Wi-Fi, you live in shared housing, changed devices, or reset a device—contact Support. We will review and promptly remove an incorrect restriction. You may also request that we stop using or delete a device identifier through the same channel.
Account-linked content, settings, email address, device identifier, and sign-up IP address are generally kept while your account exists and deleted when the account is deleted. The sign-up IP address may be deleted earlier during periodic abuse reviews. Security logs held by infrastructure providers, past PostHog events, and purchase records held by Apple or Google may remain under those providers’ retention schedules and legal obligations.
You can export your data as Markdown at any time. You can also delete your local and cloud data together at any time; deletion cannot be undone. See Account Deletion for instructions. Deleting your account does not cancel an Apple or Google subscription.
We do not lock in your data.
We recommend that you avoid entering names, contact details, personal information about other people, or sensitive health or financial information unless it is necessary.
If you feel severe distress or believe you are in danger, contact local emergency services or a qualified support provider instead of relying on the App. You can find verified emotional support services by country at Find A Helpline.
Cloud storage and AI processing servers may be located outside Japan, including in the United States and the European Union. Your data is transferred to these countries for the purposes described above. Providers use protections such as SOC 2 controls and contractual safeguards, including Standard Contractual Clauses where applicable.
Depending on the law that applies to you, processing is based on performance of the service contract, your consent to AI processing, the Operator’s legitimate interests in security, abuse prevention, and content-free product analytics, or compliance with legal obligations. Where applicable, you may request access, correction, deletion, portability, restriction, or objection, and may withdraw consent. You may also complain to your local data-protection authority. The App does not sell personal data or share it for third-party advertising. Send requests to the contact below.
We may update this Policy when necessary. Material changes will be announced in the App.
For questions, requests, or bug reports, use Feedback & Support in the App (Menu → Settings & Support → Feedback & Support).
